Light wooden house-frames are made of highly durable materials which make them applicable for detached houses, terraced houses or semi-detached houses up to five storeys.
Wood is so popular in housebuilding because of its world-renown properties as a natural and renewable resource. It is also highly efficient in terms of not only thermal insulation but also creating favourable living conditions as well. Properly constructed timber frame houses are known for their longevity (over 100 years). It is possible due to the application of modern timber logging techniques, its subsequent sawing and, ultimately, preservation. Each component is meticulously prepared. Wood is dried and seasoned in our own plants, thus, bringing down its moisture content to 14-18%. Next, efficiently performed shaving is responsible for its increased fire and moisture resistance. Such raw material does not require any impregnation (with the exception of wooden foundations which are pressure treated only with approved preservatives). Wooden components of the roof (joists rafters, roof sheathing etc.) are cold soaked with environmentally friendly liquids until they are almost completely fire resistant.
All walls of our prefabricated houses are made of wooden frame and filled in with insulation materials providing not only thermal insulation but soundproofing as well. The exterior is covered with oriented strand board protected with a windproof membrane. Siding is made of horizontal or vertical boards which were treated not only with fire and fungus resistant preservatives but an insecticide as well. The future colour of the siding chosen is left up to the customer. There also exists a possibility of siding made with styrofoam with a layer of stucco. One can also consider an extra layer of wood siding. The interior is covered with plywood, a layer of moisture resistant foil and finished with plasterboard or cement board.
Interior walls are similar to the exterior ones. However, they are much thinner, filled in with soundproof wool and covered with plasterboard on both sides. Walls located in rooms exposed to a lot of moisture (e.g. kitchen and bathroom) are covered with water resistant plasterboard.
Wall cross section:
Each wooden ceiling is thickly joisted and covered (from top to bottom) with a sheathing board which lies on specially made soundproof material. It is insulated with a 100 mm layer of mineral wool. A moisture resistant foil and plasterboards are attached to the joists as well.
Roofs are prefabricated as well. The space between rafters is filled with mineral wool. The interior is covered with moisture resistant foil while the exterior is covered with windproof roof membrane.
Roofs can be covered with a range of different materials depending on customers’ expectations and the design (e.g. heavy roof tiles if required or preferred). Wooden houses have a lot of advantages espoused by their inhabitants. Please click on "Advantages" for more information.
